Two Ball Soft Toss
This drill will teach the hitter to concentrate and keep their weight back. The coach will toss two balls. The coach will then call out top or bottom after the balls are released. The hitter will hit the called ball into the fence or screen.
Batting Drill - Golf Balls
To develop hand-eye coordination and bat control, get a bag of the whiffled “perforated” golf balls and have a friend pitch them to you. Concentrate on hitting the golf ball on the center of the barrel. Once you get the hang of it, start hitting them to all parts of the field, 5 to the right, 5 up the middle, and 5 to the left.
So you’ve chosen your bat. Now what?
You want to be comfortable and confident with your bat before you swing it in a win-or-lose situation, so take it to the practice field or batting cage and get in a few hits. Confidence can only come from one thing: batting practice. Whatever bat you choose, put in plenty of practice time, so you’ll be ready when the pressure’s on at the plate.
