Diamond DFM-iX3 Umpire Mask

I am really proud of my mask. Some of the guys I work with are still using the heavy,old school, masks.Once they have seen this mask in action,they admit they are a little jealous. Several of my fellow umpires have said they will be looking to buy one when they can.This mask is great for all around comfort in fall and spring seasons.I will be looking to order some extra pads for summer so that I can keep a fresh pair and let the other air out.Here in the south we tend to get hot after a game or two in the summer sun.This mask helps cut down on the fatigue by being almost weightless. I am really pleased with my purchase.

Pros: light weight,durable,can really turn an ugly pitch into something to laugh about.I've taken a few to the mask and never had a problem.

Cons: none so far.

The dfm ix3 lives up to its description. It's very light, strong and has a great field of vision. Several umpire's in organization use this mask on a daily basis and it continues to impress.

is great to wear something not so heavy.

Would prefer deerskin pads v microfiber.

Did a lot of comparison shopping before choosing this mask.

Best price found was from Baseball Rampage with quick shipping and good communication.

I am using this mask with confidence for all games through high school varsity and AAA American Legion.

Pros: 1) solid construction 2) extremely lightweight 3) good built-in protection for ears, throat and top of head 4) excellent vision characteristics 5) attractive design (if that is important to you)

Cons: Only one - face pads fit well and keep your face dry but can tend to be a little like Velcro on evening stubble.

the mask in the shipping container was way lighter than my old mask. I used it so far in about 7 games this last month and took a few shots no damage and no pain.

Initially, I'm satisfied but I haven't had a lot of time to use the mask.
Time will tell but from an initial perspective, the mask seems really lite and has great visibility.
If I have an issue, it's in the adjustability of the straps and getting the mask to come off nicely without pulling my cap off. It needs to be loose enough to come off without pulling the hat but tight enough so it doesn't droop in the crouch. I'm still fiddling with it. Again, time will tell but again, it's lite and has great visibility.

Even though I did not care for the padding I still give it five stars because it is easier to see out of and your head is not tired of holding the mask up by the end of the game.

Pros: very light, new profile makes it easier to see from, comfortable because of lightweight

Comparing my old 2+lb. mask to my new diamond is like comparing night and day. Not only does the lightness effect my ability to keep my head in a good position,but when rotatiing out from behind the catcher or when rotating for a foul ball the lightness andease of removing the mask is beyound compare. In addition fellow umpires like the way it looks and when the look at it and handle it they are suuprised how little it cost.

Product is fantastic. Face pads not so much. I took one of the mask in a little league game and it really hurt. May suggest to manufacturer or in description that sturdier pads may be needed or what levels the mask would be good for. I do men's leagues and high school and would not have felt comfortable with the stock pads.
