Customer Product Ratings for Rawlings PRM1150T Primo 11.5 Inch Baseball Glove

Okay, let's get the obvious questions out of the way. Is any glove worth $400, and shouldn't the Primo lose a star because of cost (i.e., compared to a Pro Preferred)? "No", and "no".

I bought the glove for my son, who wanted to switch to the modified-trap from an I-web. Both the PRM1150T and PROS15TCB were considered.

Both gloves have the same basic design (i.e., 11.5", modified trap, etc.), so this was not a real consideration. The Primo is about 5oz heavier (about the weight of a baseball), but the leather is softer than a Pro Preferred. Over time, the PROS15TCB will break in and soften up.

So, why the Primo? Let's be honest, it's a "cool factor". It just looks and feels way better than the PROS15TCB, especially "out of the box". I'm sure that the feel and initial suppleness have a lot to do with the leather and "dual core" design. My son's other glove is a PROS15ICBm and it took him over a year to break it in to where he felt comfortable using it in game situations. Given time, I am sure both gloves will perform well and, with proper care, last for quite some time. And, no glove (doesn't matter the cost) is going to catch a ball for the player.

After just a few sessions, he is already pretty comfortable with the glove and has noted that the ball is easier to find. I've noted that the glove is breaking in very well - and much quicker than the Pro Preferred.

So...

"Five stars" for the basic design of the 11.5" Modified Trapeze.
"Five stars" for the quality of the leather and construction for the Primo.
"Five stars" for the look of the oxblood.

The Pro Preferred PROS15TCB is a great glove, and is definitely the choice if cost is a major factor - and if you are willing to put in the extra time/effort to break it in properly. However, the PRM1150T is a strong option if you have the extra $150 to spare, want something that feels comfortable from day one, and aren't bothered by an extra 5ozs. (One note, try to get a "hands on" for both the Primo and Pro Preferred in your glove style. I also saw a larger Primo, and it felt like the weight difference may get more pronounced as the gloves get bigger.)
